Marziana (Bhanumathi) is a popular dancer in Baghdad, who dances to earn a living. The tyrant Sher Khan, commander of the notorious king Amir Kasim Khan, tries to take her by force to his palace. She is rescued by Alibaba (MGR), who fights with Sher Khan and vanquishes him. Marziana and her sidekick Dowlat (K. Sarangkapani) find refuge in Alibaba's house. Alibaba is a poor woodcutter and lives with his sister Ayisha (Susheela) and servant Bulbul (M. N. Rajam). Marziana learns that they are the siblings of Kasim, who had driven them out at the instigation of his cruel wife Salima (Vidyavati). Marziana and Alibaba later fall in love.
One day, when Alibaba goes to cut wood as usual, he chances upon the cavernous hideout of Abu Hussain (P. S. Veerappa), the notorious leader of forty dacoits, and overhears the secret code to enter and exit the cave. After the dacoits leave, Alibaba uses the code word, enters the hideout and takes some of the looted wealth which he uses to help the poor people around. Both Alibaba and Marziana become wealthy overnight.
Amir Kasim Khan (M. G. Chakrapani) becomes jealous when he hears about his brother's fortune, and wants to find out how Alibaba became rich overnight. Under Salima's guidance, he invites Alibaba and his household for a feast. Cunningly obtaining the secret of the robbers' cave from Alibaba, he then orders Alibaba's arrest, accusing him falsely of attempted murder. Marziana pretends to hail Kasim's order. She declares that Alibaba had been unfaithful to her and he deserved this retribution. Taking a knife, Marziana acts as though she means to kill Alibaba, but instead cuts the ropes that bind his hands. Alibaba is freed and after defeating Kasim's thugs, escapes with Marziana.
Kasim enters the cave and greedily starts collecting many treasures. Soon he forgets the code word, and is left trapped. The dacoits arrive, and kill him for entering their secret cave. Alibaba visits the cave and is shocked to see his brother dead, later he takes away the corpse. After Kasim's death is publicly announced, Alibaba is declared the king of Baghdad and everyone rejoices. Meanwhile, the dacoits return to their cave and see that Kasim's body is missing. Realizing that someone else has entered their cave, they start searching for the mystery person.
From the cobbler Gulam's (Thangavelu) assertion that the woodcutter Alibaba had become wealthy overnight, Abu Hussain realizes that it is Alibaba who discovered the secret of his cave. However, he kills the cobbler afterwards. Having his men hidden inside barrels, Abu Hussain comes to Alibaba's house disguised as an oil merchant seeking shelter for the night. However, Marziana overhears him whispering to his men hidden in the barrels, and realizes his true identity. When she dances at a banquet that Alibaba hosts in honour of the guest, Dowlat and Bulbul roll the barrels one by one into the swirling waters as per the plan. After Marziana unsuccessfully tries to stab the "oil merchant", she exposes him as Abu Hussain and Alibaba is shocked. This leads to a fight between the two men, which results in Abu Hussain kidnapping Marziana and fleeing to the secret cave. Alibaba chases him and reaches the cave, where he kills Abu Hussain after an intense battle. After Alibaba rescues Marziana, they both get married and continue to serve the poor people.

Morampudi Anil Kumar (Ravi Teja) is a well educated but unemployed youth who comes to the city in search of a job. After attending a hundred interviews, he is offered a night watchman job by an employer who is impressed by Anil's honesty and dignity of labour. Anil starts looking for a room to stay in a nearby colony. Satyanandam (Jeeva) stays in the colony and takes care of a house of his friend living in America, collecting rent for him. Swathi (Kalyani) stays in that house and works in a software firm. Satyanandam is interested in collecting a second rent for himself and offers the house to Anil on the condition that he can stay there only during the day, without Swathi's knowledge. Anil agrees and moves into the house. Anil is impressed by the way the room is decorated and artfully arranged and understands that the lady staying there has a very good taste.
The colony is full of comical characters very typical of Vamsy's films. Satyanandam is a miser trying to make money by what ever means he can. His crazy brother-in-law (Krishna Bhagavan) keeps creating trouble for him and others in the colony. The washer-man (Mallikarjuna Rao) sells his crazy ideas to people. Potti Raju (Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao) keeps making several attempts to start his own business but always ends up in a loss. The interaction of these characters with each other and the humorous situations that arise form the backbone to the movie's story line.
After a month, Anil accidentally breaks Swathi's porcelain artefact in the room and writes a letter to her apologising for his mistake. Swathi comes across the letter, and learns that some one else has been staying in her room without her knowledge. But she takes a liking for Anil's honesty and lets him stay in her house when she is not there. Both keep communicating through letters and become good friends, gradually falling in love without seeing each other. Anil and Swathi also happen to meet in a restaurant when she accidentally accuses him of stealing her purse. They start of as enemies but become good friends without knowing that they are room mates too. One day, Anil comes to know that the friend he has been meeting outside is none other than his own room mate Swathi, but does not reveal this to her, wanting to surprise her at the time of marriage.
Anand, the brother of Swathi's office manager takes a liking for her, and sends his father to her adopted parents in the village seeking alliance. Swathi's poor parents express interest, as it would help them to get their two younger daughters married. Swathi is in a fix, as she wants to help her father who adopted her and brought her up despite his poverty, but she cannot let go of her love for Anil. She expresses her dilemma to Anil as a friend, without any knowledge that it is with him that she is in love actually. Anil realises that Swathi's family would benefit from her marriage with Anand. He leaves a letter in the room telling her that he is deserting Swathi and going after a rich girl. As a friend he comforts Swathi and convinces her to marry Anand. However, Swathi comes to know the truth in the end through Anil's friend and they unite.

Plot: Anjali (Soundarya) is a journalist on a mission to sue this criminal Deva, Anjali
is also harassed by the misdeeds of Deva (Raghuvaran), the most influential person
seemingly an underworld mafia don, but in reality an undercover militant, on a mission to
release their terrorist group head imprisoned by the state administration. Deva is
apparently a Hindu devotee who is bent upon teaching Bhagavad Gita to every human he
meets. Anjali happens to see an accident in which a bunch of Deva's hench men die. She
takes this opportunity to create & glorify a fictional character called 'Azad'. She
writes a letter that Azad has done this assassination to end crime in the city & state.
Word spreads like wildfire that there is a Man called 'Azad' who is the Rescuer of the
common man.
A humble and intelligent guy called Chandra Sekhar Azad (Akkineni Nagarjuna) from
Rajahmundry, has a widowed mother, a beautiful sister and a cute fiancee, Kanaka
Mahalakshmi (Shilpa Shetty) to take care of. As his sister's marriage is fixed, Azaad
goes to Hyderabad to get the five lakhs he saved in a chit fund company. There he happens
to be involved in a few bomb blasting incidents and rescue incidents and avoids all the
bomb blasts & crime without his knowledge. People start to think that he is the "Azaad".
Anjali meets him and explains him about her mission of ending crime in the state.
However, Azaad is more interested in retrieving money from Chitfund Company and going
back to Rajahmundry to participate in his sister's marriage, refuses to enact the role
and take the responsibility of legendary character Azaad. But later on the chitfund
company turns out to be bogus which was managed by Deva, to generate finance for
smuggling of ammunition to Pakistan. By looking at victims of the chitfund company
committing suicide, Azaad wears the mask of 'Azad' to stop Deva's Mission. All these
incidents make Deva extremely frustrated and Deva kills & blasts Azad's sister at her
wedding. Deva demands the administration for release of their militant leader, by
hijacking a Train en route Pakistan via Punjab, India. Azad also comes to know that Deva
is not a Hindu, but a Muslim terrorist who is on a mission to destroy India. And the rest
of the plot deals with how Azaad assassinates Deva and his gang of Militants.
